Razor Fish

Razor fish are only found at the low water mark of spring tides. They are difficult to catch, being extremely fast to shoot down ther burrow when disturbed. To spot them walk along the tideline, and look in the sand for a 'blow' accompanied by a spout of water. They are a great bait for bass if you can get them, so it's well worth the effort.

There are two main methods of collecting them, one is to use a 3ft spear like tool with a small arrow head on the end and plunge it down the blow hole until you connect with the razor fish. Twist the spear until the arrow head is locked crossways in the shell and then draw up the razor fish.

The other simpler method is to pour salt down the blow hole and wait for the razor fish come up to the surface.
