Pollack fishing
About
Pollack like rough weedy ground, rocky coastlines and wrecks. They have a thick-set body with a dark bronze back changing to a greenish hue on the side with golden brown shades. Its belly is white or grey with yellow markings. The pollack's huge eyes are ideal for hunting crustaceans and molluscs.
Larger pollack move into deep water searching for herring and sandeel
or lurk near wrecks in the hope of catching a passing fish. This fish
packs on the weight in its early years and a well fed pollack can grow
up to four and a half feet although most are around 20 inches.
Season
From about April to October.
Methods
Spinning with an artificial sandeel or float fishing from a rock position.
